Every one had a great time at the picnic and most wanted to do it more times in the year. I worked as a volunteer for my gold prospecting group 3 Fridays in June. July fourth was spent prospecting on the Yuba River and illegal fireworks were brought by some locals and shot off the bridge. Spent 6 days prospecting and a little gold was found. Only 6 of us took this trip. I Plan on going again on 8/14/10 and so far only 2 of us are going. Here is what I sent out to my field trip list and all are welcome. Again, if you want to be on this list let me know. Gold: Field Trip leaving 8/14 through 8/21/10 Last Month a 3 day notice was given now you have more time. Location the middle fork of the Yuba River. This is an 11 hour drive from San Diego. I have been prospecting for gold over 40 years and you will have to e-mail me or call me at 619-445-0800 if there is interest or you want more info. Leaving for the Yuba River late Saturday afternoon on 8/14/10. We will be on the middle fork of the Yuba River from August 15 through August 21 at Tyler Foote Crossing and high auto clearance is needed. You can come any time and stay up to 2 weeks at the same spot. This is primitive camping and No large campers will make it. Parking is not good and you might have to pitch your tent by the river. We will be using vacuum cleaners and a highbanker to collect gold off the bedrock as dredging is now banned in Calif.. You can always swim up river with mask and snipe for gold. No cell reception at this location. Here are some pictures that Blake Sanford took a few years ago http://www.flickr.com/gp/8934765@N04/54n7d0 Last month 3 of us went to this town and were able to go inside the buildings.
