Gold, Petrified Wood, Agate and Coprolite

10/12/2010 06:10:00

Last week I was smelling Coprolite and it was over my head. Gold prospecting on the Middle Yuba River in August I used a high banker with no great results. In September used Vacuum cleaner with gas generator. That same trip in Sept., was invited to a claim on the Kanaka creek but shovel and sluice was used and no rich results. I was talked out of using the vacuum and do want to go back next year and vacuum the cracks. The first week in October it was to the Henry Mountains in Utah. Collected Coprolite or Dinosaur dung, seam agate and petrified wood. Had problems with jeep going into Las Vegas as the Catalytic converter was plugged. Arrived a day late in Utah. Experienced a wind and rain storm for 2 days staying at the Starr Springs Campground. Meet new people and found old friends. This Saturday the 16th I will be leading a small group to the Thursday mine. This is a lapitolite claim and I do need to get some kind of commitment on a number of people who want to go and pay the $30.00. There is a 30 dollar per person over 17 charge. There is a 30lb limit per person also but Richard Casey one of the claim owners don't bring a scale so if your not loading a semi truck who's counting on weight he said. No charge for kids under 17. We will meet at the Banner store next to the trailer park on right side at the bottom of Banner Grade at 9:15AM on 10/16/10. Richard did say one could spend the night camping. Please e-mail me or call if you want to go. Until next time, go smell some rocks. See all posts...
