Time to collect more gold

07/04/2018 06:07:00

Quartzsite was great in January as was a new find in Burro creek AZ. Did two trips there as I was finding some great purple agate. I did make it to my two pegmatite claims this year yet nothing great was found. Explored three different areas of San Bernardino county off of Hwy 15 with some new finds. Drove to the Henry mountains in Utah to collect but went to Tonopah NV first to pick up some glass in the area. Made it to my gold claim and plan to go again in two weeks. Digging on the shoreline and down found old gravel/rocks as the color was a rusty brown and it did yield only 1/4 Oz of gold in 3.5 days. Digging deeper and towards the hill will be better as flakes were found on this trip with bigger specimens to be found in the future. Need to get to bedrock. This past trip left the quad with a small trailer to haul stuff behind the quad and the most valued item we put up there is the propane refrigerator. Made a sweet crapper for the claim. Left tables, tent, tools, cookware, BBQ, some food ideas and stove. Have to trust the bears that they do not get into stuff and we do have metal containers to stop them. To get to the claim we have to walk or take the quad about 1/4 mile on an old flume. We were able to walk across the river at a spot were the water did not go past our knees. Until next time hope we find more of that yellow stuff.
