Quartzsite PowWow and 3-4 day Rockhound trip Leaving 2/25/10

02/14/2010 05:02:00

Quartzsite was fun this year except for the rain and record wind for the show on Thursday 1/28/10. Went back out to Quartzsite to collect and pick up the rest of my stuff on 2/8/10-2/10/10. Was also able to collect new material out in the field. I was delegated field trip coordinator for our local El Cajon rock group and if you want to be put on this new list for field trips I will be coordinating, please e-mail me back at richard@minersgallery.com. Below is what I just sent out and you are welcome to join. Please let me know? Hello all: Let me know if you are going. I will be able to take one or two people if you want to meet at my place at 6:00-6:30AMish on Thursday 2/25/10. We will meet at the Pilot Gas Station in Quartzsite at 12:00 PM AZ time or 11:00 AM Calif. time. Take exit 17 at Quartzsite then go North. The Pilot is on your right. The first day we will go just South East of Bouse for some banded agate and camp there. Next day we will head up Calif. 95 south of Needles for Needles Blue agate and petrified reeds/tulies plus different rhyolite. You can drive almost on top of the collecting locations but 4x4 is recommended for the petrified reeds/tulies location. Camping is primitive as I camp in my tent. If you want to bring your $500,000 motor home BLM camping is close by. Bring food to share/small BBQ/stove/camping gear/Pick/shovel/gloves/buckets/old back pack. If it is going to rain the trip will be canceled. Hope some of you can make it. Again, let me know if you are going by the 2/24/10 Until next time Richard See all posts...
